About Jackie
I’ve always loved reading books. I remember as a kid the wonderful world of our local library.
Each week, regardless of the weather, we’d make the twenty minute journey to scan the crammed shelves.
And with eyes wide I’d pull out copy after copy till I had my precious gifts.
And then, that resounding sound of a metal date stamp hitting the paper and a smiling librarian would hand over three amazing books.
The walk home took forever and I’d repeatedly get called back for racing ahead. I was so impatient to dive into those new stories and that love has never left me.
I’m a proud Geordie and grew up in Northumberland – although not in beautiful Lindisfarne Castle, pictured above!
I’ve lived in the North East most of my life and even though books have always been a part of my life, I didn’t set out to be an author until very recently.
Maybe like lots of people I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up but right back as a teenage shop assistant I’ve always had a strong work ethic. Along the way, there have been plenty of different roles and like all good stories there were lots of interesting characters!
I’ve always been the type to take a leap of faith if there was something I really wanted to do – be it quitting work to go travelling or embarking on a four-year Marketing degree as a mature student. And I never once regretted those decisions.
So when I kept having a recurring dream about a feisty female protagonist who decides to start over in Greece, I knew it was time for a new chapter in my own life to begin.
